three years ago…

To give fair warning, this is not going to be a typical blog post; it will be a bit dramatic and overly emotional…

Three years ago, John and I were blessed with a beautiful baby boy. We were like most first parents: scared to death and clueless about parenthood in general, but when we first held our little boy, we knew that we have been given a gift. When I think back over the past three years, the word that keeps coming to my mind is GRACE, a truly undeserved and unmerited gift from God. That is what we received on March 26, 2009.  Many people know — but for those that don’t — John and I were married for over 7 years before we had Jack. Let me tell you: parenthood was a shock to our way of life. New parents will know exactly what I am talking about! Life as we knew it was turned upside down. We could no longer travel whenever and wherever we wanted, “date nights” became few and at times VERY far in-between, and the stress of being self-employed small business owners was at times unbearable. Yet, through it all, we can smile knowing that it was worth every tear, every dirty diaper, every sleepless night, and every (speeding) trip to the doctor…this amazing little boy has blessed our lives beyond what we ever thought possible.

He shouts “good morning” as he charges into our room at 6:30am, and loves nothing more than to sing at the top of his lungs, teaching us to appreciate each day. After completing a task, we’ll say “thank you, Jack” and he normally responds “it was my pleasure!”

Here is just a small look back over the past three years…
