Stephan + Rebekah | married

We first met Stephan in May of 2010, when he was a groomsman in Jason + Josephin’s wedding. We had occasionally emailed back and forth, so Lindsey and I were so excited when he called about a wedding in Toronto! I had never even had a chance to visit Canada before, so I was very excited! Though the occasion didn’t present itself for an engagement session beforehand, we took some time to get to know them before the wedding day, and what an amazing story they shared with us.

They met at a music conference that they were each attending from their respective churches: Rebekah from Toronto, and Stephan from Florida! She’s an amazing vocalist, and he rocks out on the saxophone! That initial meeting sparked a long-distance relationship of over 5 years, culminating with an incredibly meaningful wedding ceremony in Toronto!

We weren’t too nervous about photographing in Toronto, save for the fact that many of the public places are quite regulated in regards to photography; requiring a permit for almost anything that is shot! Thankfully, the ceremony and reception venues were no problem, and Stephan secured a permit at a great 3rd location called Humber Arboretum.

The ceremony was at Kennedy Road Tabernacle in Brampton, Ontario, and was beautiful and very personal to both the bride and groom in many ways: the bride’s brother played the piano, her mother sang during the ceremony, and an uncle did most of the officiating of the ceremony. The adorable flower girl and ring bearer were family members, having come all of the way from London for the occasion!

Following the ceremony, guests proceeded to Chateau le Jardin in nearby Woodbridge, Ontario, and a remarkable reception with lots of great music. The crown jewel on the afternoon was when the entire bridal party (comprised of the bride and groom and all three of their siblings) performed My Friend by Crystal Lewis, and brought tears to everyone’s eyes.  Congratulations, Stephan + Rebekah!
