Kevin + Stefanie | married

We were so honored to be a part of Kevin + Stefanie’s wedding. Not only were they quite easy on the camera, they are some of the most genuinely kind and gracious people I have ever met. Here they are, in their own words!

Where did you get engaged?

Being the patriotic, America-loving couple that we are, Kevin popped the question on the 4th of July, on a beautiful hilltop, beneath the fireworks. It was just the two of us, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Afterwards, we celebrated with a pizza and a bottle of wine! Then we went straight to our parents houses to tell them the good news!

Favorite part of a wedding day?

This sounds crazy, but at night when I can’t fall asleep, I think about that moment when the church doors open, the organ starts to play the wedding march, and I see Kevin’s face as I walk down the aisle toward him. Amidst the rush and sometimes, stresses of wedding planning, I think of that moment, and that’s what continues to remind me of how it’s all worth every second of tedious planning for that very moment.

How would you describe your wedding day style?

We are doing a classic military wedding with a dash of glamor! Our color palette is very neutral with shades of ivory and gold. Kevin, his groomsmen, and many of our guests will be in their dress mess or dress blue service uniform. Our other guests are invited to be in black tie attire.

What are some aspects of your wedding that are unique to you as a couple?

As I said above, we’re so honored that we have the opportunity to have a military wedding. We’re doing all of the traditional ceremonial events, such as having an Army Chaplain (Colonel Paul Lasley) to officiate our ceremony, walking under the sabers, cutting our cake with Kevin’s Officer saber, having a POW MIA table setup at the reception in honor and memory of those service members who cannot be with us, and a few other little details that are still in the works that will take place throughout the evening. Because our favorite food is Italian, we will be serving our guests a classic Italian pasta entre, and Italian Cream wedding cake. Atop that cake, will be my Miss TN crown on display, along with a little more bling at the base of each of the five layers. Kevin’s cake theme is a surprise for him, and will also tie into the wedding gift I will be giving him that night at the reception. We hope everyone enjoys the traditions, the food, the drinks, the music, and stay until the Country Club turns out the lights! We cannot wait to share such a special day the ones we love the most!

What are some of your favorite qualities about each other?

As I type this at 4:30pm, I’m going to tell you about Kevin’s best qualities. Since its 12:00 midnight in UAE, Kevin is asleep and doesn’t get to tell you about my qualities 😉 darn!
Kevin has the biggest heart of anyone I know. I’ve seen how he motivates his soldiers and truly has their best interests in mind at all times. He always puts others before himself, no matter what. He truly is am American Patriot, on and off the battlefield. He’s accomplished so much through education and in the military, but he is unbelievably humble. But what I love the most is how he has always treated me like I was already his wife. April 11th will not change how Kevin treats me because he has been faithful, supportive, encouraging, loving, and devoted since day 1. Sometimes I feel like I need to pinch myself because its so rare to find a person like Kevin so early in life. We truly grew up together, but we have allowed each other to accomplish our individual goals before coming together to accomplish goals together. We are best friends, first and foremost.
