As promised, here is my other take on the recent winter weather. The morning after the storm Octavia lovingly coated our region with ice, I decided to venture out with a couple of cameras. Not just any cameras… my 2 favorites: a Rolleiflex 2.8 (circa 1959), and a Contax 645 with its stellar 80mm lens.
All of the rectangular images were photographed with the Contax, and are on Fuji Pro 400h film.
All of the square images were made using the Rolleiflex. Color images: Kodak Ektar 100; B+W images were shot with Ilford XP2 400 film.
There is something refreshing about being able to see through a huge viewfinder or ground-glass, and having to absolutely trust a meter reading. The whole “spray and pray” trigger-happy mentality of digital photography is something that goes entirely against my creative process, so it was fun to spend an hour taking about 30 photographs.
