Lindsey and I had the distinct pleasure of visiting Atlanta’s St. Regis Hotel for a book signing by Grace Ormonde. This woman’s distinct sense of style has shaped the wedding world for well over a decade, and if her second book is anything like the first one, then she’ll yet again leave a distinct mark on styles the world over.
While there, we ran into lots of friends, and made some new ones. The iconic photographer Dennis Reggie was there, and was even kind enough to smile for the camera with me. I don’t use the word iconic lightly. Dennis’ photojournalistic mindset and approach towards wedding photography has literally pioneered a category in which Lindsey and I now reside. Without his thinking, and some groundbreaking techniques he invented, then I’m not sure where I might be. I also attended a magnificent Conclave workshop, hosted in Dennis’ own home, which was a tremendous experience.
The famed Anne Barge was also on site, having crafted the dresses you might see in the backgrounds of our images. I regret not having the chance to meet her. Some of her creations can be seen on a couple of our past brides, Erin and Lindsay.
We also ran into fellow photographers Garrett and Joy Nudd, Corey McNabb, Liana Lehman and Mike Hall, and Whitney Carlson, and enjoyed meeting quite a few more!
Eric McCartyNow I’m really wishing I hadn’t had to turn in my regrets for this one. Vacationing in FL, so we couldn’t make it. Did a GO cocktail event a few years ago. But I didn’t get to meet DR, Liana, Anne Barge, or the BAMBERS! Looks like fun.
Couple that with missing removing a possum from the Rich Smith basement, and I’m thinking this whole vacation idea was a bad one.
Whitney CarlsonIt was great to see you guys there! Hopefully we will run into each other again soon!
